Mezõtúri Városi Strandfürdõ

5400- Mezõtúr
Erzsébet liget

You may refresh your self in a nice spa, which is situated in a well-kept park if you visit the spa of Mez?túr. The water contains alkali-hydrogen-carbonic, iodide and fluoride, thus it is mostly recommended for those who have some kind of motor disease or rheumatism. Besides the thermal baths there is one swimming pool inside the complex.

There is nothing sure about the foundation of this settlement. It might bee possible that it has gotten its name from River Berettyó, because its former name was Túr. The first source which mentioned the name of Mez?túr dates back to the 13C. In the 14C it already got the title of a town. There is a fleur-de-lis in the blazon of Mez?túr, so its might bee possible that the Anjou kings had spent some time here. This settlement could develop because it was situated near some important trade routes – like the one from Transylvania -, and because of its famous weekly markets. It was not only famous for its agricultural products and its lively trade life, but also for the great handicrafts made by the potters, tanners and bookmakers in the town. By the end of the 19C the glazed pottery of Mez?túr got famous all around Hungary. Mez?túr developed again after Turkish times. The buildings which characterize the town today were built in the second half of the 19C.
