Kerekdomb dűlő 1.

You may refresh your self in a pleasant place if you visit the spa of Kerekdomb, only few kilometers away from Tiszakécske. The water contains alkali-hydrogen-carbonic thus it is recommended for those who have rheumatism or some kind of motor disease. The spa is situated in a peaceful area and there is also a camping inside the complex. There are thermal pools, one swimming pool and a small pool for the children. Around the pools there are buffets, bars and gaming halls.

The first source which mentioned the name of Tiszakécske dates back to the 14C. During Turkish times in the 16C it became almost deserted. The new settlement was separated from the old village, and the two parts were united only in 1950. The two settlement developed quickly in the 20C especially after the railway was laid down. After the first bathing facilities were built tourism became more and more important. Tiszakécske got the title of a town in 1986.

Place of interest

After refreshing your self in the spa you should take a walk in and around Tiszakécske to see some interesting exhibitions, imposing buildings and natural beauties.

If you are interested in sacred places, you should visit the catholic church where you can see an old Virgin Mary made of wood. The former temple was made of mud. This was demolished and a new church was built in baroque style in the 19C. This statue of Virgin Mary was brought from the old temple. You can also see the ruins of an old catholic church in the nearby Tiszabög. Next to the ruins you can see the monument in memory of the foundation of Hungary. The old synagogue is the Town Library nowadays.

The famous Hungarian blue textile was also made in Tiszakécske. You can see a small exhibition in Miklós Kovács’s workshop.

In Tiszakécske there is a camp for art and artists every year, not only for Hungarian people, but also for foreigners. By the end of the camp they give some works for the town. You can see an exhibition about these works in the House of Culture.

Besides these this land is rich in natural beauties so if you have the time and the possibility you should take a walk by the side of River Tisza or in the nearby nature reserve park.
