Only a few kilometers far from Budapest a nice and comfortable spa complex is waiting for you (Liget Hotel és Termálfürd?)! The thermal water here is mostly recommended for those who suffer from rheums, have some kind of neurological problems, or are after some kind of accident injury and rehabilitation. The water of the spa can bee used as drinking cure as well. This way it is good against some kind of stomach problems.


Nowadays there are different kinds of open-air and out-door pools around, which include thermal pools and swimming pools as well. Besides these, different kinds of treatments are also available, like massages, sauna, mud-pack, solarium etc.


According to the finds that archeologists found here, this land was inhabited since the Roman Ages. After that time Germans, and than Avar tribes inhabited this place.

In the Middle Ages it became an oppidium, which means a small town with some privileges. It was an important trade centre because it was situated near some important trade routes. When the Turks invaded Hungary, it became a part of the Ottoman Empire. Its Turkish name was Hamzsabég, and was an important administrational town of the Empire. After the expelling of the Turks, Serb, Croatian, German and Slovak people settled here. In the 18C, after some reconstructions and develops, it became a small town again. It got famous all around Hungary for its wine and peach.

In recent years it got bigger and bigger. It became a real town in the 70s. Nowadays more and more people migrate to live in this peaceful area near Budapest, but far away from the city’s busy life.

The oldest remains of Érd can bee reached by a small excursion to the surrounding hills. The so known “Dog Castle” (Kutyavár) was a former hunter castle. Nowadays only a piece of the former wall of the castle remains, but you can get some great views from the ruins on the top of the hill.

You can visit the third highest minaret in Hungary here. Others can bee found only in Eger and Pécs.

If you would like to see some exhibitions, you can visit the displays of the Hungarian Geographical Museum or the Sun House Gallery (Napház Galéria), where you can see displays about the writer, Zoltán Csuka’s works and some exhibitions of arts.
