You may spend some nice days in a magical and comfortable place, if you visit the great spa complex of Füzesgyarmat. The spa is situated in a former castle park. The pools are surrounded by trees and flowers.

The water here contains sodium-hydrogen-carbonic and iodide, thus it is mostly recommended for those who have some kind of motor disease or rheumatism.

Inside the complex there are different kinds of thermal pools, a swimming pool and small pools for the children. Besides bathing, you may also use the sauna.


The first source which mentions the name of the Füzesgyarmat dates back to the 13C. During the Middle Ages its inhabitants were mostly land cultivators.

It started to develop only in the 19C. It became a small town with some privileges, such as the right of holding a market. During the 20C some industrial develops were made. Mils, brick-factory and an alcohol factory were built. The book clubs, different kinds of societies showed, that its inhabitants rose into the middle-class. In the 80s one started to bore for hydrocarbon, so some more industrial changes occurred that time. Due to this, the town developed quickly, and Füzesgyarmat became a town in 2000.

Place of interest

After refreshing your self in the spa, you should take a walk around the town, because there are some interesting sights around.

If you are interested in old agricultural buildings, you can see some great old farm houses around the town. The so known Kisgazadaház is a museum nowadays, where you can get some idea how a former farmer house looked like in the 18-19C.

If you are interested in oriental arts, Füzesgyarmat has a great surprise for you! The only Japanese Museum can bee visited in Füzesgyarmat. Its founder István Doma-Mikó was born in Füzesgyarmat. He lives in Japan nowadays, and works as a painter. In the museum you may see some great displays of traditional Japanese objects and some historical exhibitions. Outside, there is a great Japanese garden, a perfect place to take a rest.

Another interesting exhibition is the Museum of Erzsébet Szitás, a painter, who was also born in Füzesgyarmat.

It is also worth to explore the surrounding land, which is rich in natural beauties! If you like angling, there are some peaceful places around where some good catching is waiting for you!
