Hajdúnánási Starnd- és Gyógyfürdő

4080- Hajdúnánás
Fürdő u. 7.

You may refresh your self in a comfortable spa if you visit Hajdúnánás. The water contains sodium-chloride, iodide and bromide, thus it is mostly recommended for those who have some kid of motor disease, rheumatism or joint problems. Besides the thermal pools, there are different kinds of wellness and therapeutic treatments available, like massages, sauna, therapeutic gymnastics etc. The spa was rebuilt in 2003, when a new swimming pool and a small pool for the children were built.

The complex is situated in a large, well-kept park where you can even take a peaceful walk around a small lake.

According to the finds that archeologists found here, this land was inhabited since the Neolithic Ages.

During the Middle Ages it was a small village, which became deserted time after time. In the 17C, this has changed. The first part of the name of the town “Hajdú-“means some soldiers, who were before herdsman. In the 16C they organized them self into some kind of military groups. In the 17C István Bocskai availed himself of their services in the first Hungarian uprising against the Hapsburgs in 1604. After according to his promises, he gave land and noble rights to these soldiers. One of the settlement which became the property of these people was “Nánás”.

After this time, Hajdúnánás started to develop. It is still a dynamically developing small town, where tourism became more and more important in recent years.

Place of interest

After refreshing your self in the spa, you should take a walk around the town, because there are some interesting historical remains, and other interesting sights around.

For example you may take a walk to see the former bastions of the town, which have been reconstructed in recent years. These bastions were built to protect the Calvinist Church of Hajdúnánás.

If you would like to know more about folk culture, you should visit the Folk Museum (Tájház), where you can see how peasants lived here in the 19C.

Don’t miss to see the most imposing building of the town, the former building of the district court. It was built at the beginning of the 20C, by the designs of Gyula Somogyi and Ferenc Jablonszky.
