Albertirsai Gyógyfürdő

2730- Albertirsa
Dolina út (külterület)

The spring of Albertirsa was almost forgotten by the inhabitants of the village. But one day, they decided to build up some simple bathing facilities on their own. This was how the story of the small spa of Albertirsa started.

Nowadays there are five open-air and one indoor pools in the spa. The water contains sodium chloride, hydrogen-carbonic and iodide, thus it is recommended for those who have some kind of motor disease or are after some accident and rehabilitation.

Albertirsa was before two settlements, Alberti and Irsa. The first source which mentioned the name of Alberti dates back to the 13C and one hundred years after Irsa was also inhabited. After the Turks invaded Hungary in the 16C this land became deserted. The new owners of this land called some settlers in the 18C. The settlers of Alberti came from Northern Hungary and were mostly Slovak settlers. The settlers of Irsa were mostly Hungarians. During the 19C Alberti developed quickly. The railway had been laid down, and it became an oppidium, which means a small town with some privileges. In the 20C the two settlements were integrated into one. In 2003 Albertirsa has become a town.

Place of interest

After taking a rest in the spa, you should take a walk in the town, because there are some interesting sights around.

If you would like to see how the peasants lived here before, there is a Folk Museum in an old peasant house, with traditional furniture and tools. If you walk around the town, you will also see some of the former mansions, like the Mansion of Károly and András Irsay. There is also a castle in Alberirsa, the Szapáry Castle, which is in private ownership nowadays. Near the castle you can enter the small chapel of the Szapáry family, and there is also an old synagogue in the town.

If you take the route to the Dolina Valley, which runs behind the town, you will see some old trees around planted by famous Hungarian people who had some connections with Albertirsa. The nature around the town is also worth the tour! If you are lucky, you can see some of the most colorful birds of Hungary, the bee-eater.
