Mezőkovácsházi Parkfürdő

5800- Mezőkovácsháza
Alkotmány u. 81.

The spa of Mez?kovácsháza is situated in a well-kept park and surrounded by old trees. The water became officially medicinal water in 1998. It is rich in minerals and contains hydrogen-carbonic, thus it is recommended for those have some kind of motor disease. There are three thermal pools in the complex. This peaceful place is perfect to refresh your self after traveling around the country.

The first source which mentioned the name of the town dates back to the 15C, but according to the finds that archeologists found here, this land was inhabited since the early Middle Ages (11C). In the 15C it was already an oppidium, which means it was a small town with some privileges.

When the Turks invaded Hungary in the 16C, they burnt down the town and this land became part of the Ottoman Empire. After the expulsion of the Turkish troops in the 17C it was land of the royal treasury.

In the 19C Mez?kovácsháza started to develop slowly. The inhabitants were mostly tobacco cultivators, but worked in transportation and had some live-stock for sale.

In the 20C it was already an important agricultural center of this land – especially of tobacco – and got the title of town in the 80s.

Place of interest

After refreshing your self in the spa it is worth to look around Mez?kovácsháza, because of its special small-townish atmosphere and some interesting sights around.

There are some great statues in town, such as the statue of one of the old Hungarian leaders, Csanád, a work by Géza Széri-Varga or the statue about a woman from Corvus Cora Róbert.
